How Teams Work

  • Teams of two, drawn at the party from whoever's actually there.
  • Couples stay together. Flying solo? You'll be drawn a partner in crime.
  • Your team is locked in for the whole day, every game, win or lose together.
  • Team names are optional but strongly encouraged. Make it a good one.

The Road To Glory

  • Every game hands out points to the top teams (3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd).
  • The scoreboard runs all day, so every game matters.
  • Champions are crowned at cake time.
  • Mystery prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. That's all we're saying.

Ping Pong Team Tournament

The Pool

The only game at the rec area, so bring your A game with your swimsuit.

What You Need

The ping pong tablePaddles & ballsNerves of steel

How To Play

  1. 1.A team match is two singles games: you take one of their players, your partner takes the other.
  2. 2.Each singles game is first to 11 points, win by 2.
  3. 3.Win both games and the match is yours.
  4. 4.Split 1 and 1? A doubles decider to 5 (win by 2), teammates alternating hits.

How You Win

Take the match, climb the bracket. The bracket is drawn once teams are set.

Ref's note: Serves swap every 2 points. Deuce means the drama is mandatory.

Cup Slide Shuffleboard

The Apartment

Slide your cup to the edge of the table. The very edge. Not past it.

What You Need

Plastic cupsTennis balls (one per cup for weight)A long table

How To Play

  1. 1.Drop a tennis ball in your cup, line up behind the table, and slide it toward the far edge.
  2. 2.Each player slides two cups per round.
  3. 3.Closest cup to the edge wins the round. A cup hanging over the edge beats anything flat on the table.
  4. 4.Slide it off the table and that cup is dead. Pour one out.

How You Win

Your team's best cup counts. Best placement takes the round, rounds add up.

Ref's note: The ref's eye settles any measurement dispute. The ref is always right.

Blindfold Cup Stack

The Apartment

One of you can't see. The other can't touch. Good luck.

What You Need

A set of cups per team, one color eachBlindfoldsTotal trust

How To Play

  1. 1.Each team's cups are scattered across the table, one color per team.
  2. 2.One teammate is blindfolded. The other can only help with their voice, no touching, no guiding hands.
  3. 3.On go, the blindfolded player hunts down their team's cups and collects them into a single stack in hand.
  4. 4.Grab a rival's color by mistake and the ref puts it back. Keep hunting.

How You Win

First team holding a complete stack of their own color wins.

Ref's note: Knocked cups get stood back up where they land. Screaming is allowed and expected.

The Cup Tower

The Apartment

Take the whole tree down to one stack. The ball on top never gets to fall.

What You Need

A cup tree per teamA ping pong ballOne steady hand, one loud mouth

How To Play

  1. 1.Every team starts with an identical tree: cups stacked into a tower, ping pong ball balanced on the very top cup.
  2. 2.One teammate does all the lifting. The other can only talk, no touching the cups, the ball, or the table.
  3. 3.On go, take the tree apart cup by cup and nest them into one single stack. Not a pyramid, one stack.
  4. 4.The ball rides on top of that stack the whole way. Drop it and you put it straight back on top and keep going, clock still running.

How You Win

Fastest team to get the whole tree down to one stack, ball still sitting on top. Your time is your score.

Ref's note: The ref builds every tree to the same count. A talker who touches anything earns their team five seconds and a lot of noise.

The Long Reach

The Apartment

A tape line, a teammate holding your ankles, and a question of how far you'll go.

What You Need

A tape line on the floorA mystery item, revealed at the partyCore strength you forgot you had

How To Play

  1. 1.Both teammates start behind the tape line.
  2. 2.One anchors, holding the other however works: ankles, waist, sheer willpower.
  3. 3.The leaning player stretches out past the line and stands the mystery item upright on the floor, as far out as they dare.
  4. 4.Then they have to make it back behind the line. No hands down, no knees down, no collapsing.

How You Win

Farthest standing item wins. If it tips over or you touch down past the line, the attempt is void.

Ref's note: The floor beyond the line is lava. The ref has final say on toe grazes.

Teams are drawn at the party. Fate decides, the scoreboard remembers.
